Mission: Ensure the facilitation and fostering of professional interests through the Sri Lanka Institute of Agriculture towards sustainable development in agriculture in Sri Lanka.

Our Goals and Functions
  • Promote agriculture as a noble profession

  • Unite all professionals in agriculture in the country under a single umbrella

  • Enhance professionalism among the membership

  • Promote moral conduct and a sense of responsibility among agricultural professionals

  • Advice and intervene in formulating national agricultural policies

Our Objectives and Powers
  • Assist relevant authorities to;

    1. advance the science of agriculture and its application in Sri Lanka
    2. assist education in agriculture at national level
    3. assist, encourage and foster research and development in agriculture at national level
  • Provide assistance to institutions connected with matters related to agriculture

  • Promote the acquisition, dissemination and exchange of knowledge in agriculture by providing a forum for the presentation of research papers and discussion thereon

  • Provide courses of study for the purpose of awarding Diplomas, Postgraduate Diplomas, and Certificates of Competence in demanded disciplines and conduct examinations in accordance with the provisions of the written regulations from time to time as deemed

  • Undertake special short-term training of personnel on demand
  • Ensure the maintenance of high standards in the professional activities and the general conduct of its members

  • Recognize the special talents and contributions made by the citizens of Sri Lanka to the development of agriculture

  • Liaise with other scientific and professional organizations in Sri Lanka and abroad
